Default 6 inches, really?

Am I right in thinking I've seen somewhere that females can breed at 6 inches? Cameo is 5 and 3/4 inches and she will be 3 in July. She weighs 637g. She looks so small compared to Herbie, I don't think I will breed her until she is a lot bigger, seems wrong to put her with such a big brute of a male.

Here she is having her bath.

It's probably closer to 6.5 inches for T.g.ibera Wendy

Thanks Emma, she's grown up so fast. Herbie is roughly 15. We estimate he was around 4 when we got him and we've had him for 11 years. Well apart from 7 of those that he spent lost in the wilds of our garden. He was about Cameos size when we bought him from a pet shop. We now suspect he was wild caught so we have no real idea of his age.

Danny
Still seems really small, Danny. I'd feel like I was letting her be abused.

It's irrelevant now, unless you get gay torts.

Oh dear Wendy! Do you think you'd have liked to have bred them one day otherwise?

I was in two minds really Emma. I didn't like the idea of the "courtship", sounded really brutal between spur thighs. I think I would have stopped it halfway in case Cameo got hurt. I was also worried about septicemia if she got bitten, So, that worry is over now. Unless someone wants to give me a female?

The courtship does seem a bit brutal doesn't it!
You never know, a female may just come your way one day. Weren't you going to get another tort on last birthday? Did the budgies scupper that plan?

I was going to get one Emma but the breeder never got back to me. I contacted him several times and he said the females were late laying due to the weather. He had my email address and said he would contact me when they were ready but never did. I didn't want to contact him any more as it was getting awkward IYKWIM. So I got budgies.
