Default Do You Hibernate Your Med Torts

Simples, I'm not after a mass hibernation debate, I am interested in whether you hibernate your Mediterranean Tortoises or not

No I do not hibernate Lily, I overwinter him. He is Med Spur (Ibera), Bind. I have provided my reasons in other threads debating this. xx

I have never hibernated Herbie but we only had him 2 years before he went missing so the years he spent in the garden he obviously hibernated. I wont be hibernating him this year as I don't know how he will do after so long in the wild. Having said that I wont hibernate him in the future as I don't feel confident enough.
I also have a hatchling of 4 months who I don't intend to hibernate.

Keep them awake as the weather in the UK isn't usually warm enough for them to stay active, so usually its done by means of artificial heat and light.

I hibernate my tortoises, they are hermans and have been hibernated from 4 months old.

I've looked in to it, and haven't found anything that shows that this isn't the best thing for them.

Overwintering just means not hibernating, keeping a warm, well lit up table, replicating good summer weather.

I plan to hibernate Willow later this year....need to get his weight up a little first. All my other Meds are spending their 1st winter with me, so want to keep them up this year, but if they are healthy next year, I will hibernate.
BTW great idea Bindi I thought about starting a thread about this
