That is a HUGE can of worms right now Nicky , but here goes. Some of this is new too
From DNA testing there are 2 species
Testudo graeca and Testudo ibera, each with subspecies
Testudo graeca graeca
T. g. soussensis
T. g. cyrenaica
T. g. nabeulensis (which supposedly isn't valid as it's been named before under a different name, mauritanica)
No one recognises T. g. whitei right now, but I think they should
On to ibera
Testudo ibera ibera
T. i. anamurensis
T. i. antakyensis
T. i. armeniaca
T. i. nikolskii
T. i. perses
T. i. zarudnyi
floweri and terrestris aren't valid names
pallasi has just been used but have heard thats not valid either
So now that I've throughly confused you aren't you glad you asked my favorite question

Dan

Yes you can with any ibera ibera Nicky, not any of the other subspecies though For breeding you should match up yours with as close a match as possible, ie shell shape and coloring.

There are three recognised sub speices here in the UK. Ibera , Graeca graeca and Whitei.
These in themselves have different regions.
