Well I think they look good but I'm no expert. Eventually we'll be looking for a table so it'll be good to know what others think that have tables. Darwin is in an indoor guinea pig cage at the moment.

My reservation would be the depth of the table. I'm not sure 21.5cm is deep enough to prevent escapees! I know Theo would climb the corners of that easily.
My tables have a depth of over 30cm and have a lip all around to prevent climbers escaping!

Totally agree about the depth, plus of course the cost.
Tortoises can (and I use it as a general term) get frustrated at being able to see out. The painted on greenery could look at bit naff up close! The sleeping area also reduces the size of the actual table. |

Both look good for what they are, first one is a tad small, second one a little better. I think it is the actual cost which is astonishing Converting a 2nd hand wardrobe or bookcase might be a cheaper option - didn't we have a chippy join SW recently

Have a look at Secret Garden Woodcraft.
http://secretgardenwoodcraft.com Stuart who makes then does an excellent job. He's made my last two and makes them to your measurements, as well as selling standard size ones. Couriered delivery to all parts of the country. My latest table was also proofed for additional cost but all the same it's something that puts that extra touch to it. xx |

if you want something on a base then why not simply pick up a piece of furniture such as a sideboard/chest of drawers or similar and either put sides around the top or build your table on the top. The base furniture could be free from freecycle, theres always loads of suitable things and the table could be made for around £20 or so using ply for the base and mdf or similar for the sides. The ready made ones are fine if money isn't a problem but for those on a budget its not difficult to have something just as nice and you don't need to be a carpenter to make it, plus the base would be handy for keeping your torty things in.
