Default Long gap between hatching...

Hi,

A couple of weeks back my first egg from a clutch of 8 hatched. Little Olaf. I had to wait a whole week before the second egg hatched. However 8 days have passed since the second one hatched, 15 days since the first. None of the others have hatched. I think two may have been infertile but the others I am sure are.

Is a gap of this long normal?

Yesterday it was 10 weeks since they were laid.

Is it likely the other eggs could still hatch?

Personally I wouldnt open them. I did once to find a hatchling way behind to the ones that had already hatched, he didnt make it unfortunately and I felt very guilty. What temperature have you incubated at?

They can take a long time between hatching so hang on in there you could try putting some damp tissue paper around them.
Are you sure they are fertile if so it's just time and if they don't make it don't worry it's just one of those things I loose a few each year and no matter what you do it still happens.

I'm pretty sure they are fertile, I candled them early on and saw veins and even beginnings of embryo, even now they look very different to the two I'm sure aren't fertile.

Temperatures have been around 31 degrees. However, I recently realised that the temperature varies depending on where in the incubator the eggs are. So although the thermometer read around 31 the other shelves may have been higher or even lower... The temperatures hasn't been that stable either so has ranged from 29 to 33 depending on which shelf the eggs are on. I try to change which shelf they are on now as well.

The two that hatched have hatched from different tubs so I'm not sure if that is the difference or not.

I'll try a damp paper towel tonight after work. Thank you

I have 6 from a second clutch laid 6 weeks ago. Ill wait till most of these have hatched at least.

If they are going a greyish colour they won't be long.
