Argos clearance online
I was aware of Argos clearance before but had never checked it out because Argos usually just has £5 off this and £2 off that but I was looking at it and lots of stuff has huge amounts off like £4.99 for a £19.99 item and £50 for a £100 item etc. for those that haven't been on it it's worth checking out first if you are about to buy anything at all http://www.argos.co.uk/static/ArgosC...?mvt=HP1_main1
I did think it would all be out of stock at my nearest store but it wasn't |

I see they're selling baby tortoise runs for a tenner.

Grow your own tortoise kit?
As its pine it'd have to be sealed before use. As I understand it, pine gives of noxious fumes when hot. (thats health & safety covered). |

you could still make it cheaper, decking boards which must be 6ft to 8ft if not more long are only about £2 so 4 of those which would make a bigger enclosure would be under a tenner and double height which is tall enough for most adults under £20.

Are those decking boards on offer somewhere like B&Q? they are normally £4.99 for an 8ft long x 6inch high board but the 8ft x 5inch high are about £3.49. the 5inch boards are thinner too and twist easily. The 6inch ones are best but I've been holding off until they come on offer. it's usually spring or autumn they go on offer though. I got all mine on offer last time

B&Q had them on offer a week or so ago and the ones I have are 8ft x 5in x1inch thick, I've found as long as they are stored flat when not in use they are fine but you do have to check them before buying for straightness. We literally, or rather hubby screws them together at the corners and he uses short upright batons to hold the top to the bottom, the whole thing bthen unscrews for storage. They are all comming with us on the move as we will have to start from scratch for my adults again, we've already partitioned a gh in half though just for moving day so I have somewhere to put them. We did a trip up there just to do the gh, they will be travelling in their wooden hibernation box, I hope if they go in the night before they won't wake up as its nice and dark, fingers crossed. Anyone know if buzzards will take an adult TGI apparently they are in that area, I think we'll have to cover the run which will be a first with them.

These are good
http://www.shelledwarriors.co.uk/for...ad.php?t=34275 On the buzzards, I doubt they would carry off an adult tortoise but I wouldnt put it past them to attack on the ground. My understanding is that if you fill the air space above the tortoises, birds of prey dont like it, they dont navigate through it. Vertical poles are an alternative to mesh or netting. I have the full info in a book at home, ill get the full info of how its done this evening. |
