I was curious of the Timothy hay so just didn't get it to be safe.
The thing about Timothy Hay is if it gets damp it can grow mould, which is leathal for tortoises:0)
You can grow weeds in flower pots if you have room. Poor soil and let them get on with it:0)

If you need the plants now the seeds will take too long to grow, if you could dig up weeds and replant them it might be a faster option

What do you guys recommend for overnight heating. It’s starting to cool now. Don’t want it to drop below 20 in her hide area

I let mine drop to natural overnight heat in the house, sometime around 16 degrees even Egyptian. Central Heating can be so drying so even at cooler you need to be careful. They need humidity and heat, and cool end, and water. Outside in the spring, rule of thumb around 10 at night is ok to leave them outside (dry). Hope helped, but if worried a moonlight on a clamp will keep the are warm, though you will find they will go to the farthest corner away from it....! CB

Thanks CB,
think I'm just over worrying. I will just keep an eye on her and observe her behaviour. I can't wait to get our place so I can go much bigger and better for her.

Hi guys, its me yet again, looking for recommendations again, this time for a pet carrier.
I am wanting to get Barb registered at a Vet. but I want a decent carrier suitable for a tortoise. what do you guys recommend. The vet is 30 mins away so what would be the best way to keep her warm enough for the 30 min trip there, 30-45 min check up, and then the 30 min trip home?
And what would you use in the carrier, soil, hey/straw etc

Thanks

To be honest the only time I had to take a tortoise to a vet was for chipping. I then used a box with lid. Newpaper on the bottom and a sheet or two over the top of them.
They dont need anything fancy, just dark and cool so they dont move around too much:0)
You dont want them warm and moving around:0)

As above. Might be a good idea to use a plastic box lined with newspaper as they are quite like to pass urates and poo! Take plenty of spare newspaper and kitchen roll. Make sure it is deep enough that they can't scale the sides.
