All mine go straight out too.
There are different types of campanula with different shaped flowers. The white ones tend to die down through the Winter, and can pop up again in the Spring.

I've just noticed on the pot of the white one it says "Campanula Bali, Winter Hardy" so at least it won't be killed off totally.
I hope it's edible though |
