Can anyone identify please?
This has been growing steadily since last autumn. It's in my weed border and I've let it get to a size where hopefully it's identifiable, but I haven't the foggiest what it could be.
I threw in all the weed/flower seeds I had left last year, including mallow and hollyhock but I'm fairly certain it's not either of those. I'd like to know if it should stay (if it's edible) or otherwise I'll rip it out as it's getting large and all my other weeds are starting to come back up nicely again. Thank you.

That looks like a seedling of the Pheasant Berry, Leycesteria formosa. There must be one growing nearby, maybe in a neighbours garden.
It's quite a nice ornamental shrub, but gets very large very quickly so you may want to dig it up. Sadly, it is not edible to tortoises. http://m.thetortoisetable.org.uk/m/p...main&catID=484

I suspected it wouldn't be edible but thanks for the ID, Richard. It's not a plant I'm familiar with so I'll google it now.
Maybe I'll dig it up and see if I can transplant it elsewhere if it's ornamental.

Just looked it up and what a great eye you have for identifying! It's very pretty and I love the berries. I even found lots of recipes for using them, though don't think I'll go quite that far.
Perhaps a bird dropped a berry as I don't believe any neighbours have this plant. Sadly not edible for torts so it needs to come out my weed border but I'll try and see if it'll tolerate being moved elsewhere in the garden. Thanks again.
