Daughters bank emptied.
Abigail went to the bank to draw out some money last night and there was just a £ in there, there should have been nearly £500. She has contacted the bank but they can't do anything as all the money is pending and the bank is undergoing engineering works this weekend. They said it's 5 payday loan companies taking money. She had some calls earlier in the year asking for someone but she assumed it was a wrong number. It turns out it was the loan companies contacting her. Poor kid is only 19, she has her car and insurance to pay, money for petrol, her phone and no way of paying them. Hopefully the bank will be able to stop the money leaving the account in time.

Yes, this sounds like fraud, bank may not be able to do as much if the police aren't contacted, also it would require a police investigation to catch the fraudsters.
Sounds like they have stolen enough of her identity to get these loans

We can't do anything until Monday as the bank is in shut down because of the work being done. One transaction was for 1p and another for a pound. How do you take a penny out of an account. Apparently these are test amounts to see if it works.

I'm sure the bank will refund the money to her, it doesn't take much to show it wasn't the account owner who had withdrawn it, I would suggest though if she has any bank/credit cards to get them stopped as the thief may also have access to them.

Exactly that.
My bank has an alert set up if 1p transactions are spotted.
