Wow - you have really turned that around.

Well done - I agree... I think this should be made a sticky.

Love the beer too!
It was a great birthday afternoon! Opened a crate a beer and started chopping the Viv up. I got ma presents that morning and Milly and Mikey got a brand new home in the afternoon.

Hi Nick, its great to see a pictorial sequence showing the conversion of the viv into a more suitable house for tortoises.

Can I ask what UV tube you are using is it eg. reptiglo 8.0 ?

I think you might need to lower the tube closer to the tortoise to get as much UV available for your tortoise as possible, also you might be better off also putting a reflector over it too.

Ye, it is the 8.0, and I'm already sourcing a reflector too. Was toying with the idea of putting a second tube on the other side directly opposite the first one too.....wot u think???

I think you would be better off running 1 tube lower down and away from the back wall a bit more.

I dont know if you already know but these tubes have to be replaced every 6 months as they run out of UV even tho they still light up. Running and replacing 2 UV tubes every 6 months would end up being quite expensive for the sake of repositioning the one you already have.

Hope this helps.

Its just a shame so many have been sold uneccesarily as suitable housing, myself included.

Mine is now redundant and helping to fill the attic, best place for it.
