Default New redfoot babies (page down for updated photos 5-7-06)

For my Ibera babies I used an indoor rabbit cage which I am hoping to use again for my Redfoot babies. they have a deep plastic base with a wire cage over the top to keep the babies safe and it is also great for attaching heating and lighting to. I have two of these cages the babies are currently in the smaller cage but I want to set up the bigger cage to give them more room. I will also be setting up a tortoise table in the garden once hubby has built it tomorrow.

would one of these T-rex flood lamps be suitable for this type of enclosure or should I stick to the tube type lamps for UV that I currently have?

how can I deal with humidity correctly while the babies are in their outdoor enclosure?

Hi Lisa
the indoor rabbit /guinea pig cages are ideal for hatchling and younger tortoises.
Not sure about the trex lamp unless you can suspend it above through the door way , but a good tube should be ok and a spot lamp if its a difficulty adding a trex.
As for humidity out doors its usually fine if the enclosure is ground level a water with a watering can would be sufficent, other than hat the same as the indoors a good spray with a mister bottle , rember to add a lot of hides reds aren't keen on direct sun light for a long period

Linda, it just a piece of bark of the trunk or tree branch, its perfectly rounded, so that when placed bark side up it creates a hollow underneath, just right for little torties to hide under. You can buy them from reptile shops, but work out quite expensive, try and get some from the Lickey Hills or Frankley!!! LOL
