Hi, i have had Herms for years, but only today was blessed with 2 eggs, i hope this forum will help me , i was very surprized to find them in front of my AGA this morning, bye for now.

Some tortoises will lay anywhere when a suitable laying site is not available. Especially if they
are infertile. I must say its usually on top of the soil, not in front of an aga<g>.

thought they would need a softer, safer more protected area to lay

would the tort sense infertile eggs

If they havent been with a male, then they could sense the infertility maybe.
Or they just know.
Its a shame we cant talk to torts<g>.
