Outdoor Enclosure Lighting / Heat
Hi,
New forum member here with a question about outdoor lighting. Recently got our 10 month old Marginated, Benedict. We live in Scotland; just outside Glasgow, so sun and warm days are rare. With the help of my dad I'm going to build Benedict an outdoor enclosure for the sunnier days as I don't want him constantly kept indoors and we have a lot of space to build a decent size outdoor enclosure. Has anyone ever purchased or could recommend a solar powered lighting system for days when he can be outside, but may still require a little extra heat to bask? I have tried the usual B&Q, homebase etc, but can't see anything that wouldn't involve one of those LED lights, which I don't think would be the right thing, though I may be wrong according to experience of other tort keepers. Any help/advice appreciated. Steph. |

Hi Steph. I don't think a solar powered system would generate enough power for what you would want. Solar systems to make electricity have LED lights that can provide light with very low wattage and they don't produce any heat. Also you would be likely to want it the most on days when its not sunny.
You might have to look at installing electrics outside or rely on a coldframe for warmth.

Thanks for your help. I'm just outside Glasgow and it's rarely to never warm (we did have 1 day this week). think I'll be tunnelling some electrics for his outdoor enclosure.
