hi
some weeds will grow all through spring and summer others will grow summer only others will spring up late summer and carry on through autumn others prefer the winter get to know your weeds some can be artifically encouraged to extend their natural life via the use of cold frames glass lean toos etc usually in the uk we do have a supply of weeds all through the year |

It was a big worry of ours when we had our babies (weeds that is) but we only had 3-5 days ALL winter where we struggled to find weeds. Now that the spring is here we can get bags and bags of the stuff. We get them from laybys, open spaces, grass verges and our own garden!
We get them home, soak them and wash them in cold water and then put them in a tupaware box and they keep fresh for at least 4-5 days. We have found that it is mainly parks and public 'ornamental' garden areas that have been sprayed - verges etc just tend to get cut rather than sprayed! Steve |

Ask your family to look out for the weeds, stinging nettles, sticky bud you can also use aloe vera my 2 love it but I have to limit it as they would eat it all day they love pansies as well.

Lots of weeds die down, but plantain seems to stay all winter (I have a special bed of just ribwort plantain).

Hi Dave,
I strongly recommend growing your own seeds, However, while you're waiting for those to grow, maybe buy some "romaine or red leaf lettuce (in very limited quantities). Do not use head lettuces such as iceberg, as these contain very little in the way of vitamins or minerals. " Found from the tortoise trust website. Dandilions are everywhere at the moment! Also, In a flower bed outside my house i found loads of goose grass! ( I think thats what it's called! The sticky stuff that grabs you! ) Also, Plantain is very hardy, that is around an awful lot as well Go for a walk, You'll be pleased with what you can find!
