Question Is fruit bad for torts

Hi I heard somewhere that feeding tortoises too much fruit is bad for them as it has fructose in it (Natural Sugar). Is this true or is it just with some sweet fruits.
Thanks

Yeah this is true, although ive heard 1 slice of apple every so often is ok since its good for the shell.. also some people give a strawberry a year as a treat.

Hmm, as I said before, I would just give maybe a strawberry a year as a treat or a slice of apple every 6 months, they dont need much fruit. some species of torts such as red foots benefit from fruit, horseifields dont.

Apples are a no-no for non fruit eating species such as horsfields http://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/s...9.asp?catID=28
