Neck Sore - advice needed

Hi I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice. My Hermans Reggie is continually scrabbling to get out of his enclosure and his shell is rubbing on his neck and it looks really sore. I first noticed it a couple of weeks ago and have been bathing him daily to keep it clean but its not healing because he keeps scrabbling up and his shell rubs on it. What can i do? I know he has outgrown his enclose and I need to get him another but will a larger enclosure help or will he keep scrabbling? should i just let him roam around a room most of the time so he's not enclosed at all?
Also, should i put anything on the sore but to stop it getting infected? I have been keeping him on newspaper since I noticed it. I dont really want to take him to the vets but i will if anyone thinks it would be best.
I wanted to hibernate reggie for the first time this winter but dont think it'll be a good idea if he's not at full strength.

One of my likkle men got a sore knee when his shell was cutting/rubbing it. I treated it with Tee Tree cream it cleared up very fast and I emery boarded the sharpe edge that was rubbing/cutting his knee. He has had nno further problems.

Mine was the same always trying to climb out and rubbed his neck sore, I used sudocrem on it, I have also taken him out of a table and he has free roam of the conservatory with somewhere to go to bask when the weather isn't good enough for outdoors and hes neck has cleared and he is a much happier tort

they quite often try to climb the walls if the temperature in there is too hot, don't know what you can do about the sore neck though other than try it a bit cooler to see if it stops climbing
