microchipping hermann's
Hi iv recently purchased 2 adult western hermann's. At the time i wasn't aware of chipping and certificate ect. Anyway i paid my money and later got told i should have a certificate for each and they should be chipped. I contacted the pervasive owner and was told he never got papers or them chipped. Now my question is how do i get relavent paperwork for my tortoise's and do i need to get them chipped? I want to be above law ect. Thank you for your help.

hi there, your query could turn out to be pandoras box!
the sale of these animals without papers/chips is illegal, they could be stolen. i doubt that you will be able to do anything with these torts or any hatchlings if you have a breeding pair,i hope i am proved wrong.can you take them back for a refund? if police are involved you may lose torts and monies paid. Sounds dodgy to say the least. Maybe its pure cheek to ask how much you paid for them. Is either of them a female? Those are much sought after and unless your seller is very out of touch there is something not right here.
Would love to see photos of them. But I'm being nosey now!

Auzzyboy I would really like to see photos and we can hopefully confirm the subspecies for you.
Two adult hermanni hermanni females in good health would be worth a fair bit of money if they had papers. Without papers it's a difficult situation. You would not be able to legally sell any hatchlings and if you tried to do so 'on the quiet' they wouldn't have any papers either and few people would buy them.

They may be old enough that they are from the days before papers were required but I don't know the ins and outs of selling them if they are

Even if they are very old ones, from before the days of certs etc you still can't exchange money for them, they can only be gifted. Sounds very dodgy or a complete lack of knowledge ( which does happen )
