Sexing probes and Tortoises
Morning all.
Please excuse my ignorance with this question. Over the years of keeping and breeding reptiles i have often used a sexing probe to determine sexes of snakes. I wouldn't even consider using this method on a tortoise myself, however i wondered whether this is a method used in the tortoise world ? Thanks. |

Nope Tortoise's penis' aren't a hollow tube like a snakes hidden in the tail. Tortoise penis' are up in the body and always there (like ours ) and are filled with blood and extended when needed.
So snake probes would do no good in trying to sex a tortoise Danny
