The French have "tortue" for tortoise and "tortue marin" for the kind that go in the water and swim about.

The american folks that go on here seem to manage turtle and tortoise, but then we only get the best of 'em.

I noticed Ed uses that chelonian word a lot but that's one for really smart people.

It makes it so hard to read when the wrong words are used

And why would you say "we was going out" when it's so much easier to use the correct word "were" it flows easier and sound smoother. Myself and my children all get called posh by people where we live as we all speak correctly and believe it or not we have the letters "T" and "H" in an awful lot more words than most people.

I think the mix up of your and you're annoys me the most!

It amazes me the amount of wrongly spelt notices you see in public places-yes I make spelling errors on here but that is due to my lack of typing ability most of the time not the fact that I can't spell and if ever I was writing a notice I would definately double check it.

I always notice it... but it doesn't cause me to struggle reading the sentence or really annoy me. Your and you're does annoy me though.

I don't think I have ever heard people say they have brought something from the shop!

I'm not perfect... I am guilty of one thing.... I say "I've wrote it" instead of "I've written it" for example. With my accent "I've wrote..." sounds smoother than "I've written" because I get to stretch the 'O' out...even though its wrong! Think its quite common with some but not all people from Leeds.

When I asked in Greece if their is a tortoise sanctuary they didn't know what I was talking about as they only have turtle's, my sister in-law tells me as she is Greek that they call them chelonian, silly me I should have known better as that is the correct name for tortoise.
