Are Tesco Still Guilty Of Selling Live Food in China??
I've been to a UK Tesco today - Often go there, but I wish to God I didn't, if they still insist on selling turtles etc, just to fit in!! Do they??

Is there a petition I can sign?
Is there a petition I can sign, or something?
I've started my own one at Care2, but I have to be careful cos Tesco have raised money for The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, and they are seriously close to my heart! I am torn about what to do. Bethany xx |

Contact Care for the Wild and register your concerns with them. Alternatively write to Sir Terry Leahy, the Tesco Chairman. He gave an undertaking that in respect of Live Turtle trade, Tesco would take there lead from Scientific evidence. Let me say to date, the science they have referred to in the defence of their current trading policy is of an extremely poor standard!

You know... it is really difficult finding a good steak in the UK... you might be wondering where I'm going with this.
The turtles that Tesco are most likely farmed. If you think of the volume they deal with they would have to be farmed. Why not let them sell the meat... Next on the list is chicken... beef... pork... fish... and so on. Bottom line... don't let the bunny hugger type influence your common sense.

is it not the case though that the complaint against tesco is that they are selling live turtles? not that it makes a lot of difference, fishermen sell live lobsters at most harbours in the UK

I read in the paper the other week that this is mainly a middle class culinary delight in China. That far from being breaking with thousands of years of tradition and an essential protein source for empoverished country folk, the consumption of turtle is more of a status thing.
Tesco's pandering to the middle classes, could never happen here. Next I wont be able to shop there in my slippers...oh I can't. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-sto...5875-22003152/ |

You said they sell live food in Tesco in China to fit in. That doesn't make them fit in at all! That makes animal-lovers keep their distance and it makes Tesco cruel. Hard to believe a place I visit every Saturday is in some other country selling live food!!!!!! I really do wish this could stop!
