Default Variety is the key - get to know your weeds

Just wanted to bring to peoples attention how important it is to provide your tortoise with a wide range of weeds/plants etc. In the wild tortoise would come accross hundreds of different plants, have a nibble on one then move onto the next. In captivity it is important to mimic the wild as much as possible so please do not think that providing your tortoise with dandelions every day providing an adequate diet.

If you have any questions about plants/weeds ask on here or take a picture.

Here is some links to edible weeds

We sometimes feed a flower mix which is a mixture of dried flowers but we add water to make it less dry. Isn't this just as good?

I fully agree. Im pretty new to the whole tortoise keeping, but to be honest its not hard to give them a nice varied diet! When i first got fred he was dull shelled, not particularly bright eyed or particularly healthy lookin! After a few weeks on weeds an plants he looks fab now. Shiney shell, big bright eyes & a right personality!
