haha what I meant by eating was that he will ninbble on our shoes and sofas! he's never managed to take a chunk out...yet!

poor diet no vits or calcium and poor husbandry ie houseing .. is the main cause of this ..

Over feeding on good diet or rubbish diet causes pyramiding. And so easy to do too.
You have to stick to an amount you feed your tortoise and dont feed more. Really hard
when they look at you with those pleading beady eyes<g>.

I know we found it hard because they would demolish what we give them in 5 mins then look at us to say "is that it?!" lol

how much do people feed their baby hermanns? we give them 4 leaves (not large ones) of weeds each day and a little bit of clover

I use as much as can make a 'shell jacket'
I feed mine about a handfull- because my weeds are smaller.

I try and use that 'shell jacket' guide too, Josh. But the big question is does your little shell jacket have four leafy arms, or is it just a cape? <g>
