Default Sedum?

Hello,
I have a year old Hermans tortoise, and I am trying to vary her weed diet. I went to a garden centre to purchase some sedum as I was told they enjoy this but didn't realise how many different sorts there were! Does anyone know what type she can eat?
Thanks

Sedum often referred to as 'ice plant' is a winner .

Hi Beth, you can find out extra info by looking at thetortoisetable.org.uk and there you'll find a list of weeds, house-plants and garden plants suitable for torts.

Thankyou for your replies, looked on the website and it just says sedum, I'm just worried that i could give her one that isn't suitable for her to eat

Yes there are a huge number of sedums. The one Jackie posted a photo of is Sedum Spectabile which tortoises like. That plant is also really quite a big one so there are lots of meals on it.

Sedum Album is also suitable for tortoises but is a much smaller plant and quite slow to grow. Sedum Reflexum is another one they can eat and its a native plant to many areas where tortoises live.

But if you are mainly intersted in growing extra tortoise food plants then by far the best is Sedum Spectabile often sold as Autumn Joy. It's an attractive and hardy plant. After a few years you can lift and divide the plant to get more of them.
