Yes i see what you mean but I was asking how to get to a point where people know that I am available to take in unwanted Torts obviously not on the same level as some of these Societies but in a small way to give individual care to each tort.

why not simply ask one of the already exhisting rescuers/societys what is needed, Darren who runs the TPG is always nice and ready to answer questions, I'm not sure how the TT do things now as the owners, at least I think so, moved to spain but if your'e not already a member I suggest you join their forum and ask them. I think the owner of this site or someone connected to it used to do rehoming but I don't know whether they still do and think they did it by word of mouth rather than taking the animal, ie put interested people in touch with the giver. I don't even know if the TGP or TT actually have the animal or work the same way, there is a lady down in Devon who runs or ran the Tortoise Sanctuary but last i heard she was being closed down and i haven't heard anymore.

Have a look at the link at the bottom of the first post here:
http://www.shelledwarriors.co.uk/for...ad.php?t=68773 You can make yourself known and then take it from there - but you will need to "answer" some questions etc! |

Sorry this is really random but I was wondering what happens to seized Tortoises at Airports and Ships as I have seen a few reports which have a staggering amount of Tortoises being Seized

Have you thought about offering homes to turtles instead - there are plenty of these needing homes. We have lots! |

once again the heathrow ones at least from my experience are owned by the animal import place at heathrow, you merely look after them and they go back to them if anything happens. Again you would need to go through someone you can't just ask, people aren't daft and some torts do become more valuable as they get older hence the restrictions and also by having somewhere for the tort to always go it will never be missused.
