New here - please help me decide :)

My first post didn't seem to work so I'm trying again

I'm thinking of getting a tortoise and would like some opinions on which species would be suitable, I'm concerned about the indoor space I have to offer.

My back garden is huge so I'm not worried about that but the biggest tort table we could fit in our front room would be 5ft by 2ft as our toddlers toys are seemingly taking over! The tort table would be raised so he could not reach it but what are peoples experiences with torts and young children, do they get freaked out by the noise etc?

As you can see I'm still very much in the planning stage and want to make sure I don't get a tortie and then realise the space we're offering is not enough.
