That's excellent. It reminds me of the Moist Root Shelters suggested by Editha in Germany.
Here is her article: http://www.graeca-home.de/Krueger%202008%20e.pdf What I've noticed is that my tortoises don't bother much with tunnels which are open at both ends and if I was using one I would block off one end totally.

Jonathan is right, that's where I copied the idea from, I think it was a link I found on the tortoise table site, it took a whle to establish and I'm only trialing it at the moment, I might add it to the table when I landscape that (if there's enough room!) I have an upturned clay pot saucer? Think that's what they're called, it was broken on one side which makes a perfect door for them. Regarding the root hide I have a plan to make three or four and join them together somehow and Shape them into an igloo affair! all good fun and lots to think about.

Simon has done a great job with the humid hide and I'm inspired to have a go myself on seeing his result!
I think I've got everything to hand already - seed trays, compost, small suitable plants, wire mesh. Hopefully there is still enough decent weather left for the root system to develop this year.
