Question which thermostat?

Hi i hope to have my new outside tortoise house by the end of the week, its fully insulated so i was thinking now about heating/lighting.
I am going to put in an arcadia uv flood light, and a basking light for heat but i would like to run basking light off a thermostat.
I have an infrared light which i currently use on a dimming stat at night indoors, which i was also going to use outside just in case, does anyone know what stat to reccomend for basking light during the day, or what these day/night stats like?
Thanks.

You must use dimming stats with dealing with lamps, otherwise there will be a constant flashing from turning on and off.

It's likely you won't need heating at night, if you do a small tubular heater will work fine on a pulse stat or a temperature stat.

I wouldn't use a basking lamp on a thermostat, it could get confusing for the torte the light going on and off all the time, I would use a timer for a basking lamp and a thermostat for background heating such as a tube heater .

I use a Lucky Reptile Thermo Control II with this I can set daytime and night time settings. http://www.luckyreptile.com/products/145/en/pid1,2$pid2,3336$pid3,7773190/products.html

I have my basking light on a dimming thermostat (and a timer) it works really well, no going off and on...

I agree with Merlin. A basking lamp on a dimming thermostat can work really well.

has anyone ever just tried installing an inline dimmer and using a thermometer in the desired hat zone ?
its no different really if you have a room that doesn't vary much
