Yeah those two books are both expensive but they do have a lot of reading in them and both also have excellent photos. I think they are both good and they are also a bit similar so if finanaces are short its not worth buying both.

But if you do get either of them, you will find yourself going back to them time and again.

My boyfriend bought me the naturalistic keeping and breeding of hermanns tortoises by Wolfgang Wegehaupt for Christmas and I can't recommend it enough. There is so much detail on everything it gives you such an understanding of the species, their lives in the wild, their needs in captavity and why they are like they are. It has everything about their anatomy, their senses through to diet, and really up to date. it was last edited in 2009.

If you're looking for a book that details what Hermanns are all about then this fits the bill. Great pics in here too.

i have just bought vetters book i can hardly put it down well worth the money i think

Here, here. Its good for people to read a fully explained and backed up methodology.

Vetters book takes a very continental approach in respect to care management. You might go "eh?" in one or two places.

Pages 134-135 are my favourites.

Yes Kirkie, I am very happy with my man for getting me this book! So much detail I am practically addicted! I wanted a book specific to my species. Its great to be able to get so much information. He seems to have been researching them all his life. I wish I had the luxury of visiting them in the wild.
