Omg omg omg
Went to see the lady I am getting my tortoise from today and had a lovely chat with her. She is obviously very pleased with the size and set up of the enclosure and she has asked me if I would be willing to take on her group of females rather than one male. Sadly she has to move house suddenly and can't take them with her. They are all around 50 years old and they were all bred from. The good thing is as they are older, we don't have to be in such a hurry to get the heater up and running as they are all content without. There are 4 in the group and they have been together a long time so it would be a shame to split them up now. One has had a broken shell in the past but it is healed now, and one was deformed from hatching and only has a stump for a back leg but apart from that they are all fit and well. They all have paper work and I believe they are chipped, so that just has to be transferred into my name??
I just have to finish cutting a door into the shed, insulate it with celotex and make it predator proof. The exciting thing is I am going to go see them on thursday and hopefully will be bringing them home we me, so there will be pics thursday night.

Wow, that's amazing !!! Just goes to show what an excellent job you are doing creating your tortie home If the torts are chipped, their certs should be Specimen Specific so they go with the tortoise for life - you don't need to change the name in box 1. It would be a good idea tho if you had details of who the chip is registered with (eg Petlog) - you can then contact the to update the record. Looking forward to the photos

Sorry - just to add that if they are not chipped they should not be "used for commercial purposes" - sold.

That sounds fantastic. Usually there wouldn't be any problem finding plenty of people keen to take on breeding females, regardless of certificates and chips. We'll look forward to your photos!

All I know is that they are Mediterranean Spur thighs, not sure on exact species so hoping paperwork will shed some light on that. If not I am sure some lovely people on here will help me out. These lovely ladies are going into retirement as far as breeding goes. I am not planning on getting any males and my days of having babies are well and truly over. I am actually quite nervous about getting them. I have been waiting so long for this to happen that I can't quite believe it is happening.
