You must be worried sick Is it a specialist vet that you have been recommended to go to? I haven't had any first hand experience of this, but I know torts can get an infections and swellings on the ear. Sure I have seen somewhere that the gunky bit has to be removed and the ear cleaned out with antibacterial stuff. Sounds gross, but I don't think it is quite as intrusive as it might seem. Sure an exotics vet will be able to sort it for you

Thing is the infection seems near her mouth more than her ear and its on both sides and a little under her eye so I don't know the vet we see was totally useless he said he was a reptile vet but he new nothing about tortoises?
I can see her ears and they are clear of any infection now I'm totally lost xxxxx |

I got the pictures and replied (saying exactly what the vet said )
Surgery is the only way to go to clear up the infection. It should be fairly quick, the surgery. I've cleaned out ear infections lots of times and it's fairly easy to do once you've done it a few times. There shouldn't be any complications as long as all the infected material is removed. Danny

Hi marigold went to the vets
At trinity house Maidstone and we see a vet named Richard he was lovely and thought marigold was beautiful. It turned out to be mouth rot and he got a cotton bud and pulled it out then gave marigold an antibiotic injection and then gave me another 5 syringes to take away and she has to have one every Thursday for the next 5 weeks. She don't have to go back unless I'm worried about her in any way. So a big big thank you to you all for all your help Xxxxxxxxxxx |
