Default marginated and horsefield tortoises

hi im joanne,
new to the tortoise world and need as much advice as possible!
can you tell the sex of marginated hatchlings,and horsefields?
and also having trouble getting good information on caring etc on the marginated.
could anybody help please?

i do not think any body could sex hatchlings its far to early

as far as good info for marginated ....... u r in the right place

Hi Jo.

Welcome to the forum, Linda has given great advice already, its very near imossible to sex a hatchling.

The closeset you can get to having accurate sexing is when you have a breeder who incubates eggs at the female or male or mixed sex temperature ranges, this practice is relatively accurate but obviously not guarenteed.

I am going to split this question from the original place you posted it because you might get more response by having it as your own post, not bolted onto the end of another one.

Most speices can only be sexed at about four years old, sooner if they are over grown. But this
is not advisable as it can cause health problems.
Most more experienced keepers could/would give an educated guess, but cant be sure.
