Default My chooks.

Top hen, Fern, the fox attack survivor.

Bracken, who loves having her wattles massaged.

And Willow, the oldest hen.

They are just gorgeous Wendy! I bet they've been loving this weather and dust bathing.

Gorgeous ladies What breed are they Wendy? Looking really healthy with their deep red combs - makes my new ex bats look positively anaemic

They have had a lovely time Emma. I let them out of the run while I'm outside and they always head for their favourite spot for a dust bath. I deliberately haven't planted anything there.

I cant remember what breed they are off hand, the grey ones are French something or other.
I used to have ex batts, they were my first chickens. Wonderful animals, best chooks I've ever had. Not had any since as we were all very upset when they died. They were so friendly and loved to be with us, all the more traumatic when they die. One of them died from a prolapse. She stopped laying but kept trying every day even though her laying days were over and eventually tried too hard. Still miss our Molly and Millie.

Aww....it's so sad when they die. It must be so rewarding having ex batts. I have an Omlet Cube so I don't think I could have them as their legs and wings wouldn't be strong enough to get them up the ladder.
I've found having chickens to be so rewarding and they are such characters, even when they make lots of noise to be let out at 5.30am.
Of course I don't hear a thing, so dear hubby goes to open up their door.

Your chickens look extremely healthy and I really like the colour of them, we used to keep some chickens and bantams but had an accident with them so havent had them since.
