Default Dry January (not tort related)

I was interested to read CB is doing dry January.

Good luck to all those having a go. Someone told me today her husband is doing dry January and she is doing moist January!

I'm a bit worried because I have just thought of all the reasons why I could not do it this month and indeed thought about what month I could do it. I'm a bit shocked because I kept thinking of all the events and celebrations this year and failed miserably. Not good really. Perhaps I should start with a week in every month or something?

I've done a dry 10 years, and I feel fine, BUT I have given up chocolate digestives for a whole year, and I had a slight slip up on Tuesday, only because I had the girls round for coffee, but it won't happen again

I once gave up alcohol for lent (when I was a student) and for me it was easy, I usually drink gin and orange juice when I am out so it took a few weeks for anyone to notice!!

But in all fairness I have never been a big drinker anyway!

My dad is an alcoholic which goes a long way to explaining that! But means I can be a bit funny when people say "I need a drink" do you? Do you really?? No you just want one (so go ahead, I have nothing against it)

But yeah if you are just doing it voluntarily then I wouldn't want to do it if I had a celebration coming up!
Glad you have celebrations coming up!! Sounds like it will be a fun few months!!

My dad was also an alcoholic, may be that's why I'm not that fussed about it.

Could be right, its certainly how I feel!

It kinda stays with you and takes away from some of the attraction of alcohol

You really think she is capable of going a month with no alcohol
Every time we meet she is staggering around with a can of special brew in each hand.
