fish in terrapin tank?
Hi, I have two yellow bellied sliders. Decker is 3 and a half, and Ariel is 1 and a half. I have attached photos to indicate their size.
I was just wondering would it be possible to have fish in the tank with them or would they just eat them? (Decker especially, he snaps at your fingers if you have them up against the glass of the tank). Hi
Tis a tricky one. I had a map turtle and he never touched the fish so it was ok. However, the fish were in the tank first which I think helped. If you add some now they might well go missing! Why not try with some fast swimming danio's? This sounds awful but at least they are cheap if they end up as food. X |

Thanks pixie. Lmao poor wee danio's. Good idea though! I'm going to go to the local pet shop this week and get a couple for a test run. Fingers crossed I won't wake up the next day to a blood bath!

I personally would not put fish in with my turtles. I don't see the need and think it a bit unkind to the fish. Although it is correct, danios or equally fast fish are used, but if they are eaten, I personally think its a bit of a waste of money.
If you able to post some pictures of the heads and undersides of your turtles we can give a positive id - only one looked to be part ybs - it has the yellow S on its head, but not the 2 black spots on the underneath, and I couldn't see either on the other one. |
