Default Bottom of table

I just wondered if anyone put anything into the bottom of there tort tables or do you just put substrate straight onto the wood? the breeder im buying from uses 50/50 topsoil and play sand, when the tortoises go into there water dosent it get all muddy? but i am planning on putting stones around and also do you have to spray topsoil sure i read it somewhere,do they need any bedding in there hides when they go to bed?sorry for all the questions picking up my tortoises Tuesday and want to make sure i get there set up right before they come home

Hiya Jeannette.Heres a thread with some ideas about table lining:

http://shelledwarriors.co.uk/forum/s...t=table+lining

I use readigras or graze-on which is specially dried grass for bedding.
My two often just bury down in the soil at bedtime.
What breed of torts are you getting ?

I got a ready made table sent to me. I used the massive heavy duty plastic bag it came in to line it. It's worked a treat and super cheap .

I just use top soil. No sand. But each to their own. And some rocks I found out and about x

Going to try top soil and sand mix first only because this is what the breeder as them on but did think it might be quite messy when they come out of there water but will but stones around dish,i was going to put my tort table in conservatory but didn't know if that was a very good idea especially as its really hot in summer and cold in winter,thank-you to everyone who's replied, can't wait till tuesday this is them
