Lost in reading
One of our 18 month old Hermann's escaped from her pen a couple of days ago. Made a frantic search of the garden but found nothing. Lots of time rummaging around in the borders. Also alerted neighbours in case she gets through the fence somehow.
Keep thinking she will turn up if I just keep looking!!! Hope springs eternal. |

Has the pen got any loose soil where it can dig down or is it hard ground?

Hope you find her. If she's only small and has dug down because of the chillier weather, she could be well hidden. Fingers crossed, a close scour of the garden will find her or if she has indeed escaped, the neighbour will spot her.

Hi
The soil in the garden and around her pen is quite hard and dry. Would she be able to dig through this? She is still very young. I had thought she might be buried under leaves or in the borders somewhere. Not prepared to give up. Will keep searching every opportunity I get I'm just amazed at how many torts must go missing each year!!! |

I would scour her outdoor pen thoroughly two of mine did this a couple of months ago & you wouldnt have been able to spot where they'd dig down - not a single trace. I found them by literally sifting through the soil with bare hands, one wasnt too deep, the other was about 3 inches down!

You've got Abbey Vets up that way, worth just letting them know (they're our vets too).
