Climbing Horsefield

I have a horsefield tortoise who is approximately 18 mths. He was living in a tortoise table I built into an alcove in my current house and has been fine. I have had to dismantle this as I am moving and have transferred him into a large indoor rabbit cage until we move and then I can build him a new table to fit into the new house. It is smaller than the space he is used to but he is constantly trying to climb the sides of the cage. I thought that maybe it was because he can see out through the bars so thinks he can go that way whereas before he couldn't as 3 sides of the table where walls and the other had a covered end. Do you think he will settle down and learn he can't go that way? I'm a bit worried now as he managed to turn himself upside down just now. I was thinking that adding something to cover some of the wire sides making them solid would help ?

Hi I have a horsefield in a large storage tub £10 from Wilkinson which he cant get out of. (its only temporary while I sort something better for him outside) If they can see out they will try to get out, this goes for most torts to be honest. I have on occasion put mine under large guinea pig cage tops in the garden & they constantly climb/try to escape. I find they do it less if you block their view.
