New Leopard not eating
I got my Leopard last friday night (5th nov) and she hasn't eaten or poo'd yet. Both Eddie and stan (spur thighs) ate everything the moment they got home
She was kept in a viv on beech chips and fed cabbage, spinich and broccoli. She is about three years old Her eye's nose etc were/ are clear and she seems in good health. She is now in an adapted indoor bunny house with constant access to the whole room, she is on soil with the SW grass dried flower mix. Her temps are 32/34 under her lamp. The room never goes below 20c. I have been feeding weeds, with florette, and flowers. I bathe her every morning. She is quite shy but has for the last two mornings popped her head out while i am drying her. She isn't very active, She only comes out of her box / bed when i remove her for the bath. She isn't asleep she is just in there watching. I am not sure whether it is because there is such a dramatic change in her accomadation / diet or if i should be worried Yesterday i offered her spring greens and cucumber (this was what she used to have) but she ignored them. I have tried rolling the greens in grass pellets. Can anyone suggest anything or is it to be a trip to the vets? |

Sounds like you are doing the right things so its likely she's still becoming accustomed to her new surroundings. Hopefully soon she'll feel comfortable enough to eat, but until then hydration is the most important thing.

Leopards are known to be quite timid in nature and do generally take time to settle in - I found that even moving mine into a different room unsettled them.
Give him a daily bath and keep offering the slices of cucumber and romaine lettuce to start with - it will take time for him to adjust to a new diet but you are aiming towards grass and weeds. I wouldn't worry too much yet they tend to wind down in the colder weather anyway. Might be an idea to have a poo sample tested when he eventually goes - they can get worms from stress. Good luck with him Last edited by Evie; 15-11-2010 at 05:33 PM. |

I agree they can take time to settle in and trust you, i have one a rehomer that took about 2 months to eat the grass/plant diet and another two to totaly trust his surroundings.
