Default claiming on insurance

my story is.
Tilly is coming up 2 and she is a horsefield. she was fine when i got her dec but the last month i have become concerned. her jaw to be honnest looks disformed. one side of her face goes in the other side normal but her mouth totally dont shut. its open permently about just under 1cm opening. the inside has a hard substance blocking the throat area and she cant feed.

if i go to vets can i claim on my insurance?
what if she needs her jaw made up again if you know what i mean?
will insurance cover this?

(i cant add pics at moment on here)

What do you mean "if I go to the vets" are you just going to let it starve to death?

Do you have insurance for this tortoise? The policy should pay for, or for some of, any treatment that it receives.

I would recommend taking it to the vets now and finding out what is wrong with your tort.

I hope this helps.

Do you have any pics that you could sent to someone via email to put on here?
Whether or not you can claim on your insurance is surely irrelevant. If this tortoise needs help it needs help. If you can't provide the help then have you thought of rehoming him/her to someone that can?

I hope you can claim on the insurance, but either way a visit to a vet that understands tortoise needs is necessary. If the tortoise can't eat it will in time starve to death which is not what you want. A tube may be need to be inserted into the neck to the stomach to feed her and give medicine. It needs nourishment to help it fight whatever infection it has. This tortoise is real need of a correct diagnosis. As has been said a good clear picture of the mouth may help as we have a few very knowledgeable keepers here that may have an idea of what's going on.

Hasn't this tortoise been suffering for weeks, you need to get it to a vet, or rehome with someone who has offered it a home and the vet care it needs

most insurance companies, or at least I think so, won't pay out on something that happened or started before the insurance was taken out. You're only looking at 3 months or about since you brought the tort so it would have to be a fresh problem, they are very keen to take your money but never eager to pay out. I know what its like to not have the money but the longer you leave it the worse it could get, apart from it becoming less likely for the insurance to help the tort could be in pain and if it can't eat then there's no other way than a trip to the vets. Often the sooner you get a problem seen to the less it will cost.

If she has no previous treatment for this complaint then you claim - get her to the vets as soon as possible.
