Aww your turtles look great
I mite pay a visit to that park with the terrapins in, i live in wimbledon for uni so its not too far. Do u have more chance of seeing them on a warmer day? I went to Florida recently, rented a boat to go down one of the rivers, saw loads of turtles (no idea what kind) they were amazing so good to see them in their natural environment Will post some pics soon. Yes you stand a much better chance of seeing them if it's sunny, they only come out of the water to bask in the UV rays, same as torts, so if there's no sun they just stay in the water.

I didn't see any "guard", there are park wardens of course and gardeners but they aren't there permanently. To catch the terras you'd have climb over the railings (about 4.5' high) surrounding the pond first, not difficult in itself but then the edges of the pond are quite overgrown and the water fairly deep, that and the terras ability to disappear into the water in a split second would make catching them almost impossible, a trap would be about the only way you'd manage it and that would take time to set up. Catching them would be time consuming and without permission I think would be very difficult.
