Place a piece of paper against a wall. Put her on the paper, gently push her against wall so her head is inside. Make a mark behind her on the paper. Measure from the edge of the paper to the mark.

What are you weighing her with? To get an accurate weight it's best to use digital scales.

Anyone help! I am really confused. I have just measured her again according to the Jackson Ratio. I put her against a wall, backend and then put a book in front of her with her head in to get a accurate measurement a little bit difficult as she was wriggling) and she is 180mm approx, her weight is 900 grammes. so by my calculations she is abit underweight. she should be 975grammes. Have I done this right. sorry if I gave out wrong info before.

Thanks, I did it again with the paper, god she is so stubborn, she is 178mm or 7 inches according to my ruler. looked again at jackson ratio and she seems about right to me or have I got it wrong. In fact I have just weighed her again and she is 945grammes, that was in digital scales. what do you think

Hi , if your measurement is correct, 178mm, then she is very under weight, check her scl again as Pagan queen said , there is a thread on here that's shows how to do it correctly. Google Jackson ratio and you should get a chart so you can plot her weight.

And it's no trouble at all, people on here want to help.
Hopefully Dan the man will give you the correct weight calculation ( because he can ) lol

I remember reading that someone rang DEFRA and they said the proper way to measure a tortoise is to put them on their back and to put a measuring tape against their plastron, its more accurate apparently than the paper against wall method.

I prefer to use the Hailey chart than the Jackson.

Beautiful tortoise by the way
