Very true. I'm not against hibernating. I'm against the point that it is a necessity.

I knew this was going to cause confusion. NO none of the listed tortoises hibernate in nature. And correct me if I'm wrong Ed, what he does is "cools" them down to a temp that makes them slow their metobolics down to a "pre" hibernation state. Thus putting them into a survival mode to last out the cold. The reason, hmmm, don't really know. Convience I guess. And in my opinion should not be done by anyone who doesn't know what they're doing. Very risky. Even moreso then hibernating hibernating species by far.
