Hi I was wondering if perhaps tortoises have an idea of what is not good for them and will tend to stay away from more poisonous plants as niamherrity said her torts did'nt eat the wallflower, anyway. Or if it is put in front of them they will try it.

Never trust your tortoise to know. I have one that has a passion for foxgloves and they are lethal. She once ate a plant while staying at my daughters. It was in a pot and she knocked it over to get at it. Had we not known what she had done she would have died. One lady stated how her torts loved lobelia - one of those died. Often they do avoid toxic plants but it's not worth the risk with things that we know are toxic.

what about daffodils?? are these accepetable? ive never given them to any torts as not sure if they are ok. im asking cause ive got hundreds growing right outside my house.

i know that rose petals are good for torts, but what about the leafs that go down the rose stem? are they edible as well???
