Bruce75! Thankyou for the response. i checked Caithness on googlemaps and its about 180 miles from here (only 50 miles 'as the crow flies'!) - so its just about do-able. i've not yet been up to the far north (we have only been here on the Moray for six years), but i have wanted to, so coming for a tort would be an additional incentive.
i wonder if you could tell me about the specifics, ie which hermans and what size could they achieve with decent care etc? price? When would they be available? pm me if you prefer. Its my daughter (13) who is pushing me to get some hatchlings, and naturally she is really excited at the prospect of getting them fairly soon. But the truth is that i'm just as enthusiastic as she, which is just as well because i will be responsible for their general husbandary. Anyway, i very much appreciate you getting in touch. Yes amph55, when we first moved up here from England one of the things i noticed was the relative length of the days in summer. And light quality seems to be of a different order, which may relate to us being coastal, although i'm not sure. Thankyou for the welcome - it seems a friendly forum.

Meeting would not be a prob bruce. Six weeks is ages.. cant you give em some steroid impregnated pellets and weight training to accelerate their maturing process? Only joking
