Holidays
So does anyone here take in other people's tortoises as a favour when they're on holiday?
I'm in Devon and have no family nearby to look after mine when I'm away, does anyone live round near me that fancies arranging some sort of tortoise sitting for each other when we all go on holiday? |

I'll come and live at your house while you're away. Can I bring the family?

You could take with you depending on if its in this country and the holiday spot allows it. I'm taking Lily with me when I go
Obviously cannot if its abroad... There could be someone , maybe not right bang in your area but within a reasonable distance though that has torts and space for additions, again depending on their setup and whether you would be able to drop them off?? And how long for. I managed to find someone who was an hour away from me when I went to lanzerote last year. It's just luck sometimes and whether the person will accept that responsibility and has the space/set up. Good luck, you never know. Maybe keep an eye and bump the thread if you don't seem to get much response. It's a busy section this one xx |

Haha pagan
I've got a two week hol abroad in August so that will be tricky I've got two female THB who are quite large so difficult taking them with me when I holiday in this country, my small male THB wouldn't pose a problem as he's smaller and more easy going but the girls hate change of routine! |

Some specialist pet shops may.
I know one of my local ones has had more than once a reptile on holiday. |

its the qurantine that is the problem as that also includes and grazing outside, both for your tort and the carers. Its far better to find someone who can come to yours.

I would love to offer help Emma, if only you were a little closer, but Exeter is about a 25 minute drive for me. You ideally need someone to pop in a couple of times a day to keep a good eye on them. Perhaps take Wendy up on her offer and then we can have a good chin-wag in person Wendy!
Where have they gone - to the shop off South Street? Are they kept in the back or in the shop? Ideally perhaps try and see if a friend come come in and visit your torts at your home when you go away in the summer. I'm sure your torts would miss you but would feel far less stressed in their own homes. Sorry I can't offer more help.

We could set up a holiday swap. I live in a holiday resort, on the doorstep to the beach and he countryside. If we all set up a big swap we could all do a mass move round the country once a year. How weird would that feel, all living in each others houses taking care of the torts we all talk about on here.
