Plantain - this is long.

I took these photos today. During the heatwave they were a fraction of the size. My torts love it and has proven to be good for the bowels! It is all that fibre.

If I feed dandelions I tend to go for the smaller, fresh ones and not give them the tough fibrous bit.

They knew it was a horsfield, they even linked me a caresheet for horsfields telling me to water and mist and keep a hot humid hide 🤷*♂️ I'll try find it.
Thanks for the pics, I found someone myself on the way home, but he didn't touch it, will try chop it up and mix it for tomorrow's feed.
Also the pebbles around the water and food bowls is a good idea! Thanks Emma!

Also my seed mix arrived today, I've already put some in a pot near the window and planted some in the enclosure too, can't wait to start growing my own.

People have different opinions and ways of doing things. Despite what almost everyone says, a well known reptile vet advises keeping tortoises in vivs up to the age of 2 years because he reckons the temperature and humidity is easier to control and that higher humidity helps prevent pyramiding in the vital first two years. He is also of the opinion that they should not even be for sale until they are 2 years old. That's his opinion whether right or wrong. I have never had a viv so wouldn't know. One thing that is for sure is that even in the UK people will have different ways of doing things just because of where they live. The south of England and the north of Scotland can be 2 months apart when it comes to weeds being available

You’re welcome!
Hope the seeds take well. I usually sow loads outside in the early autumn and after a cold winter they’re a welcome sight in the spring. You know you’re a tort owner when you’re happy to see the right kind of weeds growing.

When I sow seeds its is in the Autumn and the weeds come up in the Spring, as some seeds need the cold to help them grow. If you plant in pots outside, let the plants grow and dont feed to the tortoises. You will have plenty of your own seeds for the next year:0)
Growing weeds inside is harder than you think:0) A sheltered sunny spot in the garden works well:0)
