Default Lucky Reptile hero nursery 2

My incubator arrived..
I've set it up.. it's at 32c
I'm puzzle about water... do I put bowl of water inside to get it go 75% as there's nothing in there for me put water in...

Help!

It's for my hermann tortoise who laid 4 eggs yesterday.. in the greenhouse. I've left in there for now until I've worked out what to do with the incubator!!

I haven't used one of these myself. But I'm sure I read somewhere, where you need to use a separate thermometer and hygrometer. As the one on the unit isn't too reliable.
Regarding the water question, yes, if it was me I'd put a pot of water in there, you,l need this for the humidity.

Have you dug the eggs up yet? You could get them out now and sit them on vermiculite (make a little dent in the vermiculite ) then put the tub in a coolish room for now. Think they will be ok for a week, but the sooner the better in the incubator really.
Hopefully someone who has experience with this incubator or someone with advice will be along soon.

I just wanted to add, I've made a homemade incubator this week with a polystyrene box, heat mat and two bricks and a pulse proportional thermostat. I'm amazed at how well it's keeping the temperature. I haven't got anything in this one yet, but I wanted to try one and see how well it kept the temperatures. I'm very impressed .

Hello
Congratulations on your eggs, how exciting!

I have used one of these incubators. As said the temperatures can be a couple of degrees out. So check with another thermometer. You will need a wide dish to add water to.

Good luck
