Default Meet Putin

[IMG][/IMG]
Here is my new tortoise... I don't know about 'his' history other than 'he' was handed in to local vet, who couldn't look after 'him' and gave him to my friend who just happened know 'just a right kind of person' to take over the responsibility...one that came upon me with only few minutes warning.
Luckily I happen to have plenty of materials to build him temporary housing in short notice.
[IMG][/IMG] Little bit of snack..'he' soon demolished it, and very greedily indeed
[IMG][/IMG]
Inspecting every where in the new home...'uhh...I will get there!'
[IMG][/IMG] 'That's better..now where is that sun..!? '
[IMG][/IMG]
I assume Putin is 'he'..? ....or not...

Thank you for firm conformation..I kind of thought he was too 'well built' to be she...

ETA; and now he is showing his private parts twice...oh well, new forum, few hic ups to start with...I do get used to all the 'buttons' soon.

Putin is very handsome!

I was most interested to read on your other post how he has decided he is hibernating. Definitely a little warrior!

Yes, warrior indeed, and he is showing some signs for it too...one of the nails is missing on his back leg..(I wonder if it will grow back?) and some of his front ones have been worn down next to nothing. But they are already showing signs of new growth
But otherwise he is has been 'good boy'..I've only been bitten twice..thought that is entirely my own fault for not being fast enough to get my fingers out of way of munchies. No hissing to me neither.

I'm now chewing my nails off..worrying about his beauty sleep and its success. "Handsome"....I shall tell him that once he wake up and if he doesn't turn out to be too big headed tort..
It has been surprise how much is involved with tortoise keeping..and I've only been 'at it' whole 6 weeks now!

don't worry about his claws if don't grow back - some of my lot haven't others have and they wear them down to the skin so just keep any eye. He may have a little raw area left back leg at the top, maybe check it out. but if dry and hibernating then it should be fine anyway. The white growth lines are what sandy refers to in terms of quick growth but in a Horsfield that can be hard to conquer for natural grazing as they are right piggys.

TK ing is lots of fun ! CB

Hmm..'left back leg'...are you talking about 'willy photo'..? If so, that's ok then..it is nothing, the 'raw' area that I think you are referring is just spot of mud. When I took the photo, I had just filled her new housing in GH with fresh soil that was little on wet side..hence addition plenty of grit and sand. He had right tromp around and got himself really dirty..boys..
Before I put him into hibernation box...I did go over all his body and for what I could see there wasn't anything that did looked dodgy

I keep eye on his growth lines...how much new growth there has to be when I have to put him on diet? Is there a measure good vs bad?

BTW...when you lot get fed up with me and my bombing with endless questions..just shout 'SHUT UP' and I leave you alone....for while..
