Default horsfield has just layed

hello my horsfield who i thought was a boy till recently called albert is now called albertina she has just layed 4 eggs which are in a hovabator (hmmm not to sure about this incubator, temp is up down all the time) anyway my questions are how deep do u put the eggs in the vermiculite and do u cover the eggs up with a damp paper towel i have read this somewhere.i have got the temp at around 29-31 and humidity between 60-75 is that ok.

any other information would be appreciated thanks.

My eggs just indent into the vermiculite.

You don't need to cover them with the paper towel until they start to hatch. Everything else sounds good.

Congratulations

The first few days temps in a hovabator can go up and down thats why its best to have it set up a week before you use it, but of cause you couldnt do that. It should settle down.

How are you measuring humidity?

Yes as dan said a damp tissue only when they begin to hatch this ups the humidity allowing them to get out of the shell easier - advice from Darren (piglet)

when is it that i have to do this thing called candling,and this might seem a silly question but what am i looking for exactly (and dont say a tortoise hahaha ) is it a blob or will it be clear if nothing is in there
